    Dear Sir,

So it has been some little time since I have troubled you. I thought I would make a little more for you. In yours of 26«sup»th«/sup» last year you stated that you were satisfied that Charles who died in 1751 was son of Beriah. In Aug 1881 you say, I find the name of Beriah, Charles, and Alexander Brown amongst the list of freemen frequently as early as 1696. That being so would show that Charles and Alexander were born as early as 1675 if to be a freeman they were to be 21 years of age. Perhaps they were freemen in those days before they were 21, though I think not. Now from the records of Scituate R.I. I find that Alexander Brown (the son of Charles who died in 1751) and Amitta Smith both of Scituate were married June 23«sup»rd«/sup» 1757. That is all I get from there, no records of the birth of any of their children but from Alexander's grandchildren I learned that Nathan was born March 25 1758 and my grandfather Charles was born Aug 6«sup»th«/sup» 1759 but where born I have not yet learned. Alexander died about the year 1850, about 50 years after he was Executor with his mother of his father Charles Brown's will. Now suppose he was 25 years old in 1751 he would have been born about 1725 and in that case his father would have been 50 years old when he (Alexander) was born. Therefore there was just about time enought to have slipped in another generation between Charles and Beriah. Undoubtedly, Alexander moved to Scituate after his father died, married there in 1757 and I think must have moved to Mass within fifteen years thereafter. I would like (if possible to obtain it) the date of birth of Charles (Beriah's son) and of Alexander (Charles' son), the date of marriage of Charles, who his wife Elinor was, date of his and her death. Of Alexander's brothers, John, Charles Jr, and Samuel, they I presume settled there, as you have written me that Charles is a common name in a family of Browns there, anything that interests you in regard to Beriah Brown would interest me and would be very acceptable. In the Town of Swansee Mass there settled many of hte descendants of the early Browns of Plymouth colony. I wrote the town clerk a short time since and got him to look in the records for Beriah Brown. He did so and wrote me he could not find the name. From what source do you get the information that he came from Wales? Have you any knowledge of there being any descendants of either of Alexander Brown, brother now living in you town. In the destruction of the British vessel The Gaspee, in 1772, John Brown of Providence, a merchant there, took quite an active part in the destruction. Send me $2 (which I enclose) worth of what information you can give. Once I will let you rest awhile. Possibly, I may visit your town next summer.

    Yours respectfully,

    L.W. Brown
