  • Notes
    • Lucy Olive Crane was born on January 11, 1855 in Clinton, IN, and departed this life at her home in Ashland, KS, on June 5, 1929 at the ripe old age of 71 years, 4 months, and 24 days.

She was united in marriage to James Morrison on December 22, 1880 in Center Methodist Church, Clinton, IN. To this union 6 children were born, all of whom survive; Mrs. Grace E. Hart of Denver, CO; Oscar Morrison of Ashland, KS; Blanche M. Foncannon of Ashland, KS; Ralph C. Morrison of Mont Rose, PA; Annie M. Ingram of Caldwell, KS; Dollie Stephenson of Wichita, KS.

The family emigrated from Vermillion County, IN, to Clark County, KS, in October 1886 and took a land claim in the Lexington township, where the family resided until in the spring of 1924 at which time they moved to Ashland.

She would have celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary, had she lived to see December 22, 1929.

Of her family of 8, there are 4 who survive; Alva Crane of Augusta, KS; Harvey Crane of Tulia, TX; Mrs. E.E. Helt of Clinton, IN; Mrs. Harry Bales of Dana, IN.

Though she was a patient sufferer, she did not have to suffer long, the complication of diseases which proved fatal began to work a decided change only about 6 weeks before the end came.

She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, James Morrison, the above named children, those of her immediate family, 17 grandchildren, and a host of friends.
