  Obituary: Grace M. Benike, 93, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at Johnson Memorial Nursing Home, Dawson, Minn. Grace was born in Pickwick, Minn., the daughter of Maurice and Catherine (McNally) Nagle, on Sept. 17, 1916. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at St. John's Lutheran Church, Lewiston, Minn. She was united in marriage with Edward J.A. Benike on Dec. 16, 1937, at the home of his parents at Clark, S.D. Grace was a homemaker and farmed with her husband on a farm at Raymond, S.D., until they retired and moved to a home in Logan Township. She was a member of the Ladies Aid at Raymond and also a member of the Birthday Club. After her husband's death, she moved to an apartment in Clark. Due to failing health, she resided at Rotell Assisted Living until entering the nursing home at Dawson. Grace was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Raymond, and is survived by daughter Marilyn (Alton) Block of Winona and son Carol (Susan) Benike of Dawson; daughter-in-law Jean Benike of Waubay, S.D.; sister-in-law Mable Nagle; special friend Alma Hass; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; sons, Charles and David; great-granddaughter Rachel Frick; great-great-grandson Jonathon McNally; nine brothers; and two sisters. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 16, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Raymond, with Pastor Mark Guthmiller officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Grandsons Dana, Devlin, Darren, Jason and Reese Benike, Douglas Thesing and Danial Ihrke will serve as pallbearers. Services are entrusted to Furness Funeral Home, Clark.
