- Jean A. Allar, age 85, of Hayward, WI passed away on Friday, July 6, 2007 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, MN.
Jean Arlene Gilbert was born January 21, 1922 in Canton, WI the daughter of Samuel and Merle (Patchin) Gilbert. Jean was raised in Waukegon, IL for eight years and then moved to Chetek, WI and then Springbrook, WI with her family. Jean graduated from Spooner High School in 1940. On April 17, 1941 Jean was joined in marriage to Corwin Charles Allar in St. Charles, MO. Jean was a full time mom raising her five children. After her children were attending school she worked at various jobs in the Spooner and Hayward areas. Jean enjoyed dancing, bowling, playing cards, sewing, quilting, and flower gardening. She was a member of the Moose Lodge, Homemakers of Springbrook and attended Hayward Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed going to the Hayward Senior Center and loved spending time with her family.
Jean is survived by her husband, Corwin; three sons, Gary (Barbara) of Rochester, MN, Steven (Connie) of Beulah, ND, Jeffery (Marge) of Green Bay, WI; seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren; son-in-law, Mike Ullom of Hot Springs Village, AR; one sister, Helen Lacy of Silverton, OR; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Katherine Ullom; son, Douglas Allar; sister, Lila (Ekern) Bergen; brother, Clarence Gilbert; and an infant sister, Elizabeth F. Gilbert. [1]
